     Edward Eldon Gard, 63, a resident of Boardman, formerly of The Dalles, 
died at his mother’s home in The Dalles on Sunday, July 25, 2004.
     He was born April 2, 1941, in The Dalles, the youngest of three children 
to Eldon Chester and Dorothy May (Ellison) Gard. He was raised in The Dalles 
and graduated from The Dalles High School with the class of 1959. 
     After high school, he lived in Madras and started meat cutting, having 
learned the trade from his father who was a meat cutter. His father owned and 
operated Columbia Meat Market in The Dalles. 
     He enjoyed the outdoors, horses and his work.
     He is survived by three children, Scott and his wife, Kathy Gard, 
Portland; Michelle Shine, Bend; and Patrick Gard, Post Falls, Idaho; four 
grandchildren, Andy, Carlie, Callen, Jera, his mother, Dorothy James, of The 
Dalles.
     No public funeral services will be held. Private cremation was held at 
The Dalles Win-quatt Crematory with Smith Callaway Chapel in care of 
arrangements. Memorials may be made to Hospice of The Gorge, 751 Myrtle St., 
The Dalles, OR 97058.
