Wakley iwakley@msn.com December 30, 2006, 2:33 pm The Dalles Chronicle, August 15, 2006 William “Bill” Aron Frantz, 85, a resident of The Dalles, died at his home on Sunday, Aug. 13, 2006. He was born in The Dalles on April 26, 1921 one of ten children to James Edward and Margaret M. (Ellard) Frantz. He was raised in The Dalles and served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He married Katherine M. Smith in Goldendale, Wash. on Sept. 8, 1940 and worked as a cement contractor and took pride in the projects he worked on throughout the Mid-Columbia Area. He enjoyed hunting and fishing along with caring for his yard and garden. He is survived by his daughter, Charlene Elmore and her husband Michael of The Dalles; his granddaughter Elizabeth Bennett and her husband Art of Independence; one brother, George Frantz of Spokane, Wash and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Frantz and eight brothers and sisters. Viewing visitation will be held on Friday, Aug. 18, 2006 from 2-7 p.m. and on Saturday, Aug. 19, 2006 from 9am to 12:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held at IOOF Cemetery on Three Mile Road on Saturday, August 19, 2006 at 1:30pm with Asa Jenson officiating and Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
