He was born June 11, 1928 in The Dalles. Mr. Francois served as a corporal in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1948. He was a cherry orchardist. He was a member of the Elks, Eagles and American Legion and was a member of the Mill Creek Grange, the Wasco County Fruit and Produce League and The Dalles Cherry Co-op. Survivors include his wife, Patricia, The Dalles; four sons, Donald, David and Douglas Francois, all of The Dalles, and Michael, Gresham; four step-children; two grandchildren, Lynsey and Justin; and a brother, Carl, Pleasant Hill, Calif. Funeral services were Wednesday at Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home with Pastor Asa Jenson officiating. Burial was at The Dalles IOOF Cemetery. Honorary casket bearers are Jack Walker, Ed Hendricks, Capt. Earl Cooper and Bob Olson. Active casket bearers are Peter Zaugg, Leo Polehn, Hank Vanover, Larry Holman, Jim Taylor and Tom Stout. Memorials may be made to the Visiting Nurse Health Department in care of Mid- Columbia Medical Center.
