The Dalles Weekly Reminder, May 24, 1984
     Mrs. Lena (Babe) Fields, 72, died at her home in Roseburg on Saturday.  
She was a lifelong resident of Grass Valley.

     She was born June 12, 1911 at Reamsville, Kan.

     She and her husband, Charles, who died in 1973, had owned and operated 
Fields Confectionary in Grass Valley.  She moved to The Dalles in 1974 and 
eight years ago moved to Roseburg.  She had married Charles on May 26, 1944 in 
Grass Valley.

     Survivors include a brother, Arden Sheets, Denver, Colo.; two sisters, 
Florence Adair, Boulder, Colo. and Ossie Sheets, Castle Rock, Colo.; a step-
son, Ross Fields, in California; two grandchildren, several nieces and nephews 
and a close friend, Norma Johnson Rush, Roseburg.

     Graveside services were held Tuesday at 3 p.m. at The Dalles IOOF 
Cemetery, with the Rev. Rick Simpson officiating.  Smith Callaway Chapel was 
in charge of arrangements.

     Memorials may be made to the Heart Fund.
