The Dalles Chronicle, November 3, 2004
     Nick Ferguson, 75, a resident of Salem and former resident of The Dalles, 
died on Nov. 1, 2004, in the OHSU hospital following complications with cancer 
surgery.
     He was born in Beaverton but grew up in The Dalles. 
     Nick married Betty Gist on Sept. 5, 1948. They moved to Salem in 1974.
Gist died after the couple had been married for 51 years.
     After serving in the Korean Conflict, Nick spent 30 years working for 
Pacific Northwest Bell, retiring in 1987.
     He was active in South Salem Rotary.
     He enjoyed the Oregon Coast, visiting the Hawaiian Islands and spending 
time with his grandsons.
     Survivors include his second wife Bonnie, who he married Nov. 3, 2004; 
his daughter and son-in-law Sheri and Paul Leipzig along with their two sons, 
Mitch and Travis.
     Services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 4, 2004, at Virgil T. 
Golden Funeral Service. Interment will be in Belcrest Memorial Park. 
Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2350 Oakmont Way 
#200, Eugene, OR 97401.
