She was born June 16, 1930 in Tacoma, Wash., the youngest of three children to Dean Haskell and Bessie Violet (Mitchell) Hallgarth. She was raised and attended schools in Snohomish, and Yakima. Sarah married Harland Francis Fentress Sr. on April 14, 1949 in Montesano, Wash. They were long time residents in Goldendale and Ephrata. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and sewing. She loved spending time in her garden, flowers, making her humanitarian quilts, and especially her genealogy work. She also continued her education and was certified by H&R Block. She is survived by her children, Shirley Kimber and her husband, Charles, Troy, IL; Cheryl Bray & (friend) Brad Lynch, The Dalles; Sherry Fentress, Portland; Frances Lange, Seaside; Harland Fentress Jr. and (companion) Kim Chidester; Salt Lake City; and Laurel Fentress, Seaside. She also has 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jean Jenkens, Colville, Wash. and Bette Tripp, Bremerton, Wash. She was preceded in death by her husband on April 29, 1994. Graveside services will be held at Tahoma Cemetery, 1802 Tahoma Avenue, in Yakima, on Friday, May 6, 2005 at 11 a.m. with Bishop Bowmen officiating. Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home is in care of arrangements. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2120 First Avenue North, Seattle, WA 98109 on her behalf.
