The Dalles Chronicle, February 17, 2005
     Dorothy Pearl Olsen Farris, a resident of Dallesport and former resident 
of Lyle, died at her home Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2005. 
     She was born July 12, 1916, in Carney, Iowa, to Edward and Effie Olsen. 
     She was preceded in death by a 3-month-old son, Larry Dean, who died in 
1937; and one younger sister, Wanda Haas.
     She married Dean Llewellyn Farris on Nov. 30, 1936. They lived in 
California most of their married life until January 1979, when they moved to 
Lyle. He died in April 1995 and she moved to Dallesport in April 2000.
     She is survived by her children, including Beverly Jean Cleverly, Long 
Beach, Calif.; Gary Russell Farris, Dallesport; Carol O’Kinga, Lake Havasu, 
Ariz.; and Debra Kay Winters, Vancouver, Wash.; one half-sister, Betty Winn, 
Phoenix, Ariz; 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, three great-great-
grandchildren and another on the way, two nieces, Marlene Wallace and Connie 
Spradley, Sacramento, Calif. 
     A memorial services is scheduled at Gateway Presbyterian Church in The 
Dalles on Saturday, Feb. 19, at 2 p.m., with a social hour to follow.
     Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Gorge in The Dalles, 
or the American Cancer Society.
