All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************ Transcribed and formatted for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Earline Wasser January 2003 ********************************************************************************* The Dalles Chronicle January 14, 2003 Clarence Walters Fargher Obituary Surnames: Fargher, Duncan, Huff, Rees, Snodgrass, Barnett Clarence "Bo" Walters Fargher, 79, a resident of The Dalles, died at the local hospital on Sunday, December 23, 2002. He was born April 16, 1923, in Wamic (Oregon), one of six children to Clarence Walter and Ida (Duncan) Fargher. After growing up in Maupin (Oregon) and graduating from Maupin High School, he entered the U.S. Navy on August 19, 1941. He served from 1941 to 1947, with an aviation group based on the USS Enterprise CV-6, the most decorated ship in World War II. After the war, he was chosen to be an aviation machinist's mate, 3rd Class, for the first group of Blue Angels. While in the Navy, he met Bernice Evelyn Huff and they married January 26, 1945 in Goldendale (Washington) After the service, they returned to Oregon. He started working the construction trade, building power lines all over the northern and southwest states, until 1955, when he started with BPA (Bonneville Power Administration) and Tuff Shaver on the first line maintenance crew in The Dalles. In 1967, he went from transmission line maintenance to line construction and retired as chief inspector in 1988. He and his wife traveled and visited family and friends until she died in 1992. He moved to The Dalles a few years later and lived with his son, Michael. During high school, he was the Oregon State Golden Glove lightweight champion. He was also a life member of Fred Schmidt American Legion Post No. 20 in Crown Point, Indiana. He is survived by his son, Michael Jay Fargher, The Dalles and his grandsons, Shane and Cody and great-grandson, Forrest; his daughter, Colleen Rae Fargher Rees and husband Roy, Crown Point, and granddaughters, Rachelle and Ryenne and great grandson, Rees and his sister, Patsy Snodgrass, Eugene (Oregon). He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice; his brothers, John, James and Thomas Fargher and a sister, Mary Helen Barnett. Graveside committal services, with veterans rites will be held at The Dalles Parklawn Cemetery at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 18, with a potluck following at 3 p.m. at The Dalles Eagles Lodge. Private cremation was held at The Dalles Win-quatt Crematory with Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
