The Dalles Chronicle, February 16, 2005
     Verla (Adkisson) Evans, 83, died in Kenmore, Wash. on Feb. 5, 2005.
She was born on Sept. 25, 1921, in The Dalles, the youngest of five children.
     Her brothers and sisters were Neva, Loren, Verona and Gene.
     She graduated from The Dalles High School in 1939 and married her high 
school sweetheart James L. Evans in 1942 just before he shipped out for 
overseas duty in World War II.
     They were married for more than 58 years before his death in 2000.
     She was a member of Renton Lutheran Church for more than 30 years. She 
enjoyed working in the yard, decorating her home, cookies and ice cream.
     She is survived by three children; Steve Evans, Holly Smith and Rob 
Evans; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Verona; and a 
brother, Gene.
     Memorial services were held in Bellevue, Wash., on Feb. 12.
