The Dalles Chronicle, July 20, 2005
     Virginia Dyer, 81, a former resident of The Dalles, died at the home of 
her daughter and son-in-law in LaPine on July 13, 2005.
     She was born Oct. 15, 1923 in Roseburg to Alfred and Amanda (Wiberg) 
Rainwater. They later moved to Eugene where she went to school and graduated 
from Eugene High School and attended one year of college at the University of 
Oregon.
     In 1949 she moved to Klamath Falls and lived with her parents for a 
while. In 1952 she met her husband, Pete, while both were working in the 
Klamath County Courthouse.
     They were married in Reno, Nev. on March 6, 1953.
     They lived in The Dalles from 1977 to 1988 and owned the Columbia Title 
Co.
     She liked to travel, dance, play cards and work in her flower garden.
     She is survived by her husband, Pete, Salem; daughter, Sheri and son-in-
law, Fred Dornhecker, LaPine; granddaughter, Mandi Dornhecker, La Pine; 
grandson Jason and granddaughter-in-law, Rene Dornhecker, Salem; great-
grandson, Caden Dornhecker, Salem; and her step son and daughter-in-law, Dan 
and Ruth Dyer, Bend.
     Viewing will be Thursday, July 21, at 10 a.m. at Restlawn Funeral Home in 
Salem. Funeral services will be Friday, July 22, at 2 p.m. at the funeral 
home. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
     Memorials may be made to Mid-Willamette Valley Alzheimer’s or Bend/La 
Pine Hospice sent in care of the funeral home, 201 Oak Grove Road NW, Salem OR 
97304.
