Dunmire Surnames: Dunmire, Draper, McGee, Wagenhoffer, Randall Dorothy Draper Dunmire, 98, a resident of Oregon City (Oregon) for over 90 years before coming to The Dalles in 1998 died Wednesday, January 29, 2003, at a local care facility. She was born August 23, 1904, in Oregon City, the youngest of seven children to Charles Young and Mary Elizabeth (McGee) Draper. She attended the McLaughlin Institute (now St. John's Catholic School) and graduated from Oregon City High School in 1925. She first worked at My Ladies Ready to Wear which was owned by Marie Schoelheimer Draper, then as a retail clerk for the firm of George Bannon, followed by working as a bookkeeper for Friedrich's Hardware and office work at the Huntley-Draper Drug Co. She married Melvin Dunmire on October 22, 1928, in Oregon City and they moved to Gladstone (Oregon) and later to Glen Echo (Oregon). In 1950 she left Huntley Draper Drug to become the office manager of her husband's auto repair business. Active in her community, she served as president of the Jennings Lodge PTA (Parents Teachers Association), Clackamas County PTA, Clackamas County Council of Campfire Girls and the Oregon City Soroptimist Club as well as one year as treasurer of the State Bulletin of the Oregon Congress PTA. She was a member of the BPOE Lodge 1149 Ladies Auxiliary, Clackamas County TB Health Association, Jennings Lodge Horizon Campfire Group, Oregon City Womens Club, Clackamette Gem & Mineral Corporation, and was a life member and served as treasurer of the Clackamas County Historical Society. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Phyllis and Ervin Wagenhoffer, The Dalles; son-in-law Robert Randall, Oregon City; nine grandchildren and many great and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1986, a daughter Patricia Randall in 1971, and six siblings. At her request no public services will be held; the family will observe private ceremonies of remembrance in conjunction with the disposition of her ashes in the Oregon City area. Memorial contributions may be made to the Clackamas County Historical Society. Arrangements were by Columbia Cremation & Burial.
