Wakley iwakley@msn.com December 28, 2006, 10:16 am The Dalles Weekly Reminder, April 12, 1984 Gertrude Woodcock Driver, 91, a long-time resident of Wamic and a resident of The Dalles the last two years, died Sunday at Mid-Columbia Medical Center. She was born Nov. 14, 1892, and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Woodcock, early pioneers who came to the area by wagon train from Indiana in the 1850s. Mrs. Driver was a member of the Old Wasco County Pioneer Association, the Barlow Trail Garden Club, and was a member of the Barlow Gate Grange for more than 50 years. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Frank (Nedra) Faught, The Dalles; two granddaughters, Mrs. Rick (Teresa) Barber, Salem; and Mrs. Bruce (Vicki) Carlson, The Dalles; six great-grandchildren, Greg and Tom Barber, Aaron and Nick Newland, and Brian and Brenda Carlson, plus 11 nieces and nephews. Her husband Tom died in 1975. Graveside services were Tuesday at Lone Pine Cemetery in Wamic with the Rev. Dan Elam officiating. Smith Callaway Chapel handled arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Barlow Gate Grange in care of Glenn Jensen, treasurer.
