Surnames: Drader, Bloom, Smart, Green, Bean Melvin Boyd Drader, 43, a former resident of The Dalles, died of natural causes at his home in Albany (Oregon) on April 21, 2003. He was born June 30, 1959, in Glasgow, Montana to Melvin Boyd Jr., and Gayle Marlene (Bloom) Drader. He moved to Oregon as a young child with his mother, where he was raised by her and her husband, Earl R. Smart, Sr. He also spent several years on the family farm in Springdale, Washington with his father, Melvin and his wife, Pamela. After graduating from Wahtonka High School (The Dalles) in 1977, he worked on several cherry farms for several years before working six years as a chef at the Burns Brothers Truck Stop in Troutdale (Oregon). He moved to Albany in 1992 where he worked for several years at the T&R Truck Stop and later worked at other Willamette Valley restaurants. He also worked as a truck and forklift driver, as a parts clerk and a tractor and automobile mechanic for a number of small businesses in the area. He enjoyed spending time relaxing, fishing and working on classic cars. Survivors include a son, Jacob Drader Green, Spokane, Washington; his father and step-mother, Melvin and Patricia Drader, Pomeroy, Washington; brothers, Earl R. Smart Jr., The Dalles; and David Ellis, Pomeroy; sister, Mariam Smart, Aumsville (Oregon); Melva Drader and Rosittia Bean, both of Spokane; and Nina Drader, The Dalles; and 14 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Earl Smart, in September 1993 and his mother, Gayle Smart, in December 1999. There will be no public service.
