The Dalles Weekly Reminder, September 29, 1983
     Jessie Downey, 94, a resident of The Dalles since 1964 and formerly a 
resident of Sweet Home, died Tuesday at a local nursing home.
     She was born Feb. 17, 1889 at Little Rock, Ark.
     Mrs. Downey was a member of Life in Christ Center in The Dalles.
     Survivors include her husband, Howard A., The Dalles, whom she married on 
Sept. 27, 1915 in Ritzville, Wash.; four sons, Lester, The Dalles, Harvey, 
Colfax, Wash., Calvin, Portland, and Nelson, Ocean Shores, Wash.; two 
daughters, Mrs. Keith (Virginia) Albers, Beaverton, and Mrs. Wesley (Patricia) 
Veene, The Dalles; 21 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and two great-
great-grandchildren; a brother, Earl Thompson, Kennewick, Wash.; and a sister, 
Audrey Smith, Glendale, Calif.
     Funeral services were today (Thursday) at Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral 
Home with the Rev. Ron Keyser officiating.  Burial was at The Dalles IOOF 
Cemetery
