The Dalles Weekly Reminder, November 11, 1983
     Mrs. Leona Douma, 88, a former resident of Sherman County, and a resident 
of Milwaukie, died Thursday at a Portland hospital.
     She was born Sept. 15, 1894 in Crook County.
     Mrs. Douma was a graduate of Crook County High School and was a teacher 
in that area for several years.  She moved to Sherman County in 1924, where 
she taught in Fairview and met Aurelias Douma, marrying him Nov. 25, 1926 in 
Prineville.
     They operated a wheat and cattle ranch near Moro for many years before 
retiring in 1962 and moved to Milwaukie.
     She was a member of the Moro Community Presbyterian Church, the Rebekah 
Lodge, and the Moro Women's Club.  After retirement, she was active in the 
Wichita Garden Club and attended Lake Road Presbyterian Church.
     Survivors include a daughter, Gloria Cockburn, and a son-in-law, Dr. Bob 
Cockburn, both of Portland; three grandchildren, Tim, of Portland, and Dan and 
Brigitte, both of Eugene; a brother, Elbert Elliott, Lebanon, and numerous 
nieces and nephews.
     Funeral services were Monday at the Moro Community Presbyterian Church 
with the Rev. Angus Crocker officiating.  Private burial was at the Moro 
Cemetery.
     Honorary casketbearers were Orlow Martin, Charles Burnet, Lloyd Henrichs, 
Vernon Miller, Paul Fraser and Keith Thompson.  Active pallbearers were John 
Shipley, Bob Martin, Dean Martin, Steve Burnet, Jim Belshe and Don Miller.
     Memorials are suggested to the Sherman County Scholarhsip fund or 
favorite charities.  Smith Callaway Funeral Chapel was in charge of 
arrangements.
