Wakley iwakley@msn.com and July 11, 2006, 1:47 pm The Dalles Weekly Reminder, January 8, 1988 Frederick Dormaier, 79, died Jan. 3 at a local nursing home. He had been a resident of Sherman County since 1943. Mr. Dormaier was born March 26, 1908. He was a wheat farmer for 30 years. Before ranching, he was a foreman at a CCC Camp in Quinault, Wisc., and a crane opertor at the Vancouver shipyards. He was founder of Dormaier's Picture Jaspar Rock, and a member of the Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite Bodies, Al-Kadar Temple of Shrine, Oregon Wheat League and the American Quarter Horse association. He was also a member of The Dalles BPOE #303 and the Sherman Grain Co-op Grain Growers. He is survived by his wife, Lillian of Wasco; daughter, Betty Clifton of Wasco; son, Fred Dormaier Jr., of Hermiston; three grandchildren, Daniel Clifton, Theresa Matthews and Shannon Lee Dormaier; three great-grandchildren; three sisters; three brothers. Funeral services were held at Wasco United Methodist Church followed by burial at Wasco Sunrise Cemetery. Contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society in care of Smith Callaway Chapel.
