William Ernest Dollarhide William "Ernie" Ernest Dollarhide, Jr., 75, a resident of The Dalles, died at his home on Tuesday, February 25, 2003. He was born August 14, 1927, in Frog Level, Horatio County, Arkansas, the fourth of seven children to William Ernest and Lona Elizabeth (Smith) Dollarhide. He was raised in Kingman, Arizona and in 1945, he joined the U.S. Army Air Force and served in Japan. He married Ann Louise Williamson in Bernalillo, New Mexico , on July 14, 1947. After his honorably discharge in 1948, he worked construction as an iron worker, working on the Davis, Chief Joseph, The Dalles, Ice Harbor, Lower Monumental, Oxbow, John Day and Bonneville Dams. In the late 1960s, after retiring as an iron worker, he started working with the Corp of Engineers, retiring in the late 1990s as a crane operator. He had been a resident of The Dalles and Goldendale (Washington) areas for the past 50 years. He enjoyed his family, friends, family pets, work and co-workers, being outdoors and the ocean beaches. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ann Dollarhide; his sons and their spouses, Dave and Diane Dollarhide, Moses Lake, Washington; Dan and Sandy Dollarhide, Wasilla, Arkansas; and Dean and Michelle Dollarhide, Corbett (Oregon); five grandchildren, Dwayne, Derek, Deitra, Dustin and Jake; four great-grandchildren, Dakota, Dallas, Dawson and Dyson; and five sisters, Thelma, Alice, Adaline, Lois and Gloria. He was preceded in death by his son, Darin, 1985, and his brother Ulese. Funeral services will be held at Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home on Saturday, March 1 at 11 a.m. with Dr. James Hazlett officiating. Interment will follow at The Dalles Odd Fellows Cemetery.
