The Dalles Weekly Reminder, October 6, 1983
     Paulien Ester Dieriex, 77, a resident of Central Point and former 
resident of The Dalles, died Sept. 27.
     Mrs. Dieriex lived in the Rogue Valley for nine years after moving from 
The Dalles.
     While living in The Dalles she was a member of the Fraternal Order of 
Eagles Auxiliary, Aerie 2126.  She was also a life member of Hotel and 
Restaurant Employees Union Local 9 in Portland, and was chef for many years at 
The Dalles Hotel, Langdons, Clifford's Barbecue and the Elks Club.
     Survivors include a son, William R. Dieriex, Medford, a sister, Marjorie 
Slinker, Madras; a brother Clifford Savage, Long Island, N.Y., and two 
grandchildren.  A son, Cecil C. Bay, died in August, 1982.
     Local funeral arrangements were handled by Smith Callaway Chapel, and 
Conger-Morris Funeral Directors of Medford was in charge of private funeral 
arrangements.
     Memorials are suggested to a favorite charity.
