Wakley iwakley@msn.com May 18, 2006, 4:14 pm The Dalles Daily Chronicle, November 26, 1995 Jerri Lynn DePriest, a resident of Friend, died at her home on Thursday, Nov. 16. She was 43. Jerri had lived in Friend for 23 years. She was born Jan. 9, 1952 in Eugene, the daughter of Eldon and Elsie Walker. The family moved to Prineville, then The Dalles, and finally to Dufur in 1964. Jerri graduated from Dufur High School with the Class of 1970. She married her high school sweetheart, Harold DePriest, on Sept. 10, 1971 and they made their home in Friend. Jerri had graduated from Dental Hygienist School and worked for a period of time for Dr. Kielman. Most recently she had worked for Kramer's Market in Dufur. She was a member of the Dufur Christian Church and for many years was active in the Cancer Support Group. Jerri was first diagnosed with cancer over 18 years ago and had become an inspiration to many. Survivors include her husband, Harold DePriest of Friend; her sons: Brian DePriest of La Grande and Jeremy DePriest of Friend; a daughter: Carrie DePriest of Moscow, ID.; her mother: Elsie Walker of The Dalles; a brother: Thomas Archie Walker of Bend; and her sisters: Peggy Walker Richards of Bremerton, WA. and Jeanne Walker of Yuma, AZ. Memorial services will be held on Sunday, Dec. 3 at 2 p.m. at Dufur High School. Memorials are suggested to the Jerri DePriest Scholarship Fund at Dufur High School, sent in care of U.S. National Bank, P. O. Box 8, Dufur, OR. 97021 or the Columbia Gorge Hospice, sent in care of Smith Callaway Chapel, 311 Union St., The Dalles, OR. 97058.
