The Dalles Weekly Reminder, December 15, 1995
     Hazel Frances DeLore, 93, a resident of The Dalles since 1987, former 
longtime resident of Maupin, died Dec. 7, 1995, at a local care center.
     She was born Feb. 11, 1902, on her parent's homestead west of Maupin, on 
Juniper Flat to Frances and Mary (Derthick) Confer.  She had an older sister, 
Rennie.
    She attended Derthick School, being a member of the last class to attend 
the school.  She then attended The Dalles High School.
    Mrs. DeLore moved to Portland where she held various jobs in department 
stores.  She met and married Fred A. David of Forest Grove in December 1930.  
They later moved back to Juniper Flat, where Mr. David farmed until his death 
in February 1941.  The couple had a daughter Arlene Carol.
     She remarried in July 1947 to Mose DeLore and they continued to live and 
farm on her parent's homestead until Mr. DeLore's death in August 1986.
     Mrs. DeLore was a life member of Oregon Wheat League, Maupin American 
Legion Auxiliary Post 73, Maupin Dig and Hoe Garden Club and Wasco County 
Pioneer Association.
     She loved raising flowers, working for hours in her rose beds, and also 
did floral arranging.
     Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Arlene and Robert Fosberg 
and grandson, David Fosberg, all of West Linn; and a nephew, Lyle Gabel of 
Maupin.
     Viewing visitation was held Dec. 10-11 at Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral 
Home with funeral services in the funeral home's chapel Dec. 11.  Burial will 
be at Kelly Cemetery in Maupin.
     Memorials:  Juniper Flat Fire Department or Southern Wasco Ambulance 
Fund, sent in care of Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home, 1100 Kelly Ave., 
The Dalles, OR 97058.
