Wakley iwakley@msn.com April 19, 2006, 11:13 pm The Dalles Chronicle, February 3, 2006 Annie Lucille Delay, 67, a resident of The Dalles, died at a local care facility on Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2006. She was born in Chelsea, Okla., on July 23, 1938, the oldest of 10 children to Charlie and Florence (King) Moore. She was raised in Chelsea, where she graduated from high school. She moved to The Dalles in 1964, and married William Cook in 1967, they later divorced. She married James Henry Delay in 1974. She earned her G.E.D. in The Dalles, worked in a childcare center, Home Extension and served on county committees, she was a member of The Dalles Church of God and member of VFW Auxiliary Post 2471, designed VFW Poppies and her work covered tanks for the State Convention for the VFW. She helped with the hunter safety where she provided refreshments, volunteered for memorial services and was a great helper with dinners at The Armory. She enjoyed quilting, beadwork, made doll clothes for the Salvation Army, loved her dogs and cats, her roses and other flowers. She is survived by her sons, Ronald “Ron” Moore, William “Ed” Cook and Charles “Chuck” Cook, all of The Dalles; and many other friends and family. She was preceded in death by her husband James H. Delay and her parents. Viewing visitation will be held on Monday, Feb. 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Feb. 6, at The Dalles Emmanuel Baptist Church, 2819 W. 10th St., with Pastor Tim Foster and John Hall officiating. Casket bearers are Roger Person, Vern Anderson, Earl Manner, Mel Lucas, Justin Mitchell and Bill Kuehl. Interment will follow at The Dalles Three Mile IOOF Cemetery with Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home in care of arrangements. Memorials may be made to Home at Last Animal Friends, PO Box 390, The Dalles, OR 97058.
