Surnames: Davis, Houston, Makino, Cowan, Schmidt Richard "Bud" L. Davis, Jr., 65, a resident of The Dalles, died at a local hospital on Friday, April 11, 2003. He was born August 21, 1937 in Nyssa (Oregon), the second of four children to Richard "Dick" and Helen (Houston) Davis. He attended schools in The Dalles and Hood River and served in the U.S. Air Force from August, 1954 to February, 1958. On September 2, 1962, he married Judy Makino in The Dalles. He owned and operated service stations, a gun shop and worked as a salesman for local car dealers. He enjoyed going to gun shows, attending local sporting events, taking trips to the coast with his children and grandchildren, collecting various collectibles, and his dogs Dusty and Nattie. He is survived by his wife, Judy, The Dalles; two sons and their wives, Randy and Rose Davis, The Dalles; Jeff and Malii Davis, Mesa, Arizona; four grandchildren, Cody, Dylan, Patton and Jeffrey Ryan; his mother, Helen Davis; two sisters, Shirley Cowan and Marcella and her husband Gordie Schmidt; his brother Doug and his wife Pam Davis, all of Portland; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter Kelly Ann and his father Richard "Dick" L. Davis, Sr. Graveside memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, April 18 at the Odd Fellows Cemetery with Reverend Joseph Kelbel officiating. Private cremation was held at The Dalles Win-quatt Crematory with Smith Callaway Chapel in care of arrangements.
