He was born Aug. 28, 1934 in Grants Pass to Walter and Claire Davidson. He moved to Portland as a young child and then to Valsetz in his mid teens. When his tour was over he returned to Portland, worked as an electrician and met his first wife, Joan (Tunison) Davidson. He and Joan later moved to The Dalles, where they raised two children. He was an active member of the Boys Scouts of America, first as a Scout master, then as a wood badge trainer. He also counseled young men pursuing their Eagle and continued to volunteer for the Boy Scouts for 47 years. He was awarded Scouting’s highest honor, the Silver Beaver. He moved to Salem in 2001 and married his high school sweetheart, Barbara (Gordon) Davidson. Together they traveled, enjoyed their grandchildren, family, friends and held numerous gatherings. Survivors include his wife, Barbara; his sons Larry Davidson and Darryl Gordon; his daughters, Linda Davidson Joy, Terry Proctor and Marion Sumption; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. His youngest son, Mark Davidson, and a brother, Duane Davidson, preceded him in death. A celebration of life will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 4, at the Fall City Free Methodist Church.
