Wakley iwakley@msn.com December 9, 2006, 5:22 pm The Dalles Weekly Reminder, March 8, 1984 John Lewis Davenport, 35, formerly of The Dalles, was killed Feb. 24 in an airplane crash in Presidio, Mexico, relatives here report. He was living in Scottsdale, Ariz. His father, Lewis Davenport, was manager of Cox Cablevision in The Dalles and transferred with Cox to Astoria. He is now a vice president with Cox and is based in Atlanta, Ga. Authorities in Mexico said that Davenport was flying alone when the plane developed engine trouble. They said the engine exploded before Davenport could make an emergency landing. Presidio is about 50 miles from El Paso, Texas. Funeral services will be next week in Atlanta. In addition to his parents, survivors include his wife, Margaret; two daughters: Jill of Maryland, Kim of Scottsdale and a son, Christopher of Scottsdale; two brothers, Ed of Phoenix, Charles of Atlanta. Relatives in The Dalles include two aunts, Florence Davenport and Carolyn Hammond, and a cousin, Phil Hammond.
