He was born July 18, 1918, in Great Falls, Montana to William and Irma "Dolly" (Johnson) Dalbec. He served four years in the Navy then two years as a seaman in the Merchant Marines during World War II. He worked at Plumb Tools in California, where he met and later married his wife, Eva Lee Mooney, on August 3, 1946. He worked in construction on several dams in the Northwest, the last being in The Dalles, where he settled in Rowena in 1952, and in 1964, he started Dalbec Construction. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years and enjoyed the outdoors, gardening and watching televised golf. He is survived by his six daughters, Darla Lee, San Jacinto, California; Sherry Beck and husband, John, Priveville (Oregon); Regena Kepler, The Dalles; Pam Morgan and husband, Richard, Mosier (Oregon); Patricia Scott and husband, Mark, and Betty Ervin and husband, Duane, all of The Dalles; 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eva Lee, his parents and two brothers. A celebration of his life will be held at his home in Rowena from 2 to 6 p.m. on Monday, November 11. Private cremation was held at The Dalles Win-quatt Crematory with Smith Callaway Chapel in care of arrangements.
