He was born July 27, 1929 in The Dalles, the second of three children to Donald and Opal Curtiss. He grew up at the Curtiss Brothers Orchards on Mill Creek. He attended school in The Dalles and graduated from The Dalles High School in 1947. After school he joined the Army and was stationed in Germany where he was on the sharp shooting team. Hunting and riding his Harleys were two of his favorite pastimes. He was a member of the Ironworkers Union and had been a welder for years until his retirement. In 1953 he married Sharon Langdon in The Dalles and they had two children. Survivors include his children, Cody Curtiss and his wife, Nancy, LaCrescenta, Calif.; and Kelly Monroe and her husband, Ben, Klamath Falls; granddaughters, Erin and Emily Curtiss, LaCrescenta; sisters, Love Ann and her husband, Charlie May, The Dalles; Dona and husband Leland Mayhew, Maupin; and several nieces and nephews.
