The Dalles Weekly Reminder, December 8, 1995
     No public funeral services will be held for Nellie Cranson, a resident of 
Grass Valley.  Burial will be at Oak Hill Memorial Park in San Jose, Calif.
     Mrs. Cranson died at a local care center Dec. 3, 1995.  She was 78.
     She was born Nov. 2, 1917, in Bridgeport, Conn., the youngest of three 
children to Albert and Mary Jane (Grant) Fox.  She grew up in Bridgeport and 
graduated from Stratford High in 1934.
     From 1942 to 1945, she served as a Navy Wave at Navy Headquarters in New 
York City.  Following the war, she returned to Stratford to work for American 
Can Company.
     She married Edmond "Ed" Dwight Cranson on Nov. 23, 1949 in Stratford.  
They lived in Milford, Conn., until 1957 when they moved to Florida.
     Three years later, the couple moved to California and both worked for 
Lockheed Missile and Space until 1973, when they returned to Florida for three 
years.  They then returned to California for four years before settling in 
Grass Valley in 1980.
     Mrs. Cranson worked as a secretary.  She was a member of the Rebekah 
Lodge and she was an avid reader.
     She is survived by her sons, Thomas D. Cranson of Salinas, Calif., and 
Robert W. Cranson of Sacramento, Calif.; seven grandchildren; one great-
grandchild; and a brother, Albert Fox of Apollo Beach, Fla.
     She was preceded in death by her husband Ed Cranson on Oct. 6, 1995.
     Memorials:  Alzheimer's Association or Columbia Basin Nursing Home, in 
care of Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home, 1100 Kelly Ave., The Dalles, OR 
97058.
