Surnames: Cooper, Campbell, Collins, Turner Grace Iola Cooper, 97, a resident of Portland, died at a Portland care facility on Saturday, March 15, 2003. She was born April 28, 1905, in Yakima (Washington), the younger of two children to Ellis and Janella (Campbell) Collins. She grew up in the Yakima area and graduated from Lower Naches High School then attended Washington State Normal School in Ellensburg (Washington). She married Jack E. Cooper, who was a member of the pioneer Cooper family of The Dalles, on August 28, 1931 and they lived in the Lower Naches area until moving to Warden, Washington, in 1955. They moved to Ephrata (Washington) in 1966 and after his death in 1989, she moved to Portland in the early 1990's. She is survived by her son, John E. Cooper, Porland; her daughter, Jeanne Marie Cooper Turner and her husband Dr. Edwin A. Turner, M.D., Plainfield, New Jersey; grandchildren, Suzanne, Stacy, Scott and Seth, and great grandchildren, Louisa and John. Graveside services were held at The Dalles Odd Fellows Cemetery on Monday, March 17, 2003, with Smith Callaway Chapel in care of arrangements.
