She was born in Hood River on Sept. 27, 1909, the daughter of the A.B. Coopers of Hood River and was the fourth in a family of eight. Her schooling was in Hood River and at Portland Business School. She married Keith Cunning, also of Hood River. After a few years of fruit farming, the couple moved to California where she loved the desert. After the death of her husband she moved to Salem to be closer to family. While living in Salem she met and married Rev. Chas. Shaw. He preceded her in death. Due to failing health she moved to Cherry Heights Retirement Center in The Dalles. She was a gifted oil painter. She is survived by her daughters, Tonya Cunning Welsh, Stockton, Calif., Margaret Annala, Hood River, Maybelle Young, Salem, and Jane Rice, The Dalles.
