Wakley iwakley@msn.com April 17, 2006, 11:29 pm The Dalles Chronicle, February 1, 2006 Keith Wayne Collar, 75, a resident of The Dalles, died at the local hospital on Sunday, Jan. 29, 2006. He was born June 22, 1930, Vermillion, S.D., the fourth child to Kenneth B. and Nellie Florence (South) Collar. He grew up in Vermillion and graduated from high school in 1949. After graduating from high school, he farmed for his dad. He married Wynona Crystal Mae Gudmunson on April 13, 1951. He was called into the service and served in the Korean War from December 1951 until October 1953. He returned to Vermillion and worked for The Anderson Brothers. The couple moved to The Dalles, in 1957, where he went to work for the Aluminum Plant. He enjoyed camping, listening to Gospel music and to Bill Gaither. He read western books and he loved his children and his six grandchildren. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, The Dalles Eagles 2126, American Legion Post 19 and the V.F.W. 3061. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Wynona (Wyn) Collar; his son, David W. Collar and his wife Angela, Glide; his daughter Karen West and her husband Jeff, Tigard; his grandsons Mitchell and Daniel West and Benjamin Collar; his granddaughters, Kirsten and Katamarina Collar and Rachel West; his brother Clayton Collar and his wife Dot of Belmont, Ill.; his sisters-in-law, Luella Watson, Vermillion; Connie and Jim White, Parker, S.D.; Wava Gudmunson, Brush Prairie, Wash.; his brother-in-law, Donald Brown, Acme, Pa. and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters Faye Walz and Bonnie Teizen; his brother Virgil Collar and his nephews, Tom Bice and Ron Bice. Private cremation was held at The Dalles Win-Quatt Crematory with Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home in care of arrangements. Upon his request, there will be no services. Memorials may be made to The Dalles Eagles Lodge #2126, 2006 West 7th St., The Dalles, OR 97058.
