The Dalles Weekly Reminder, June 14, 1984
     Grace May Clayton, 80, died Friday at the local hospital.  She resided in 
The Dalles since 1947.

     She was born May 27, 1904 in Loveland, Colo.

     Mrs. Clayton had worked as a registered nurse at The Dalles Hospital, 
Columbia Basin Nursing Home and the Oregon State Hospital before her 
retirement.  She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

     Survivors include a son, Charles Clayton, Hood River; a daughter, Darlene 
Zikes, Portland; five grandchildren, Patricia Zikes, Eugene; Cindy Zikes, 
Portland; Nancy Judy, White Salmon, Wash.; Edwin Clayton, Portland; and Mary 
Clayton, Hood River; two great-grandsons, Matthew and Casey Wagner, White 
Salmon; and a brother, William D. Harris, Bryan, Texas.  Her husband, Ernest, 
died in April of 1983.

     The funeral service was held Monday at Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral 
Home with the Rev. Egerton Long officiating.  Burial followed at The Dalles 
IOOF Cemetery.

     Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church or to the American Cancer 
Society.
