She was born Sept. 26, 1915 to William and Helena Hix at home in the Dufur area. Her first major employment was at the Tuberculosis Hospital in The Dalles and soon thereafter she married Gerald H. Claymier on Nov. 6, 1936. He preceded her in death in 1989. They lived in various places including Juniper Flat, where they farmed, Klamath Falls, Portland, and The Dalles in retirement after remarrying a second time. She was an avid gardener who loved her flowers and always found time to help those in greater need than herself. She suffered a stroke in 1997 and moved to Virginia to live with son her Bob and daughter-in-law Linda. Survivors include two sisters; Thelma Hagen and Nita Paddock; brother, Bruce Hix; two sons, Bob and Ken Claymier; four grandchildren, Kim Mitchell, Kris Boucher, Natalie Francis and Cody Claymier; and four great-grandchildren, Hannah and Eli Mitchell, Emily Boucher and Amanda Francis.
