The Dalles Weekly Reminder, February 23, 1996
     Gerald Anthony Cheadle, 64, The Dalles, died at Mid-Columbia Medical 
Center on Feb. 15, 1996.
     He was born Jan. 7, 1932, in Detroit, Mich., the fourth of five children 
to Alfonso Augusta and Ruby (Forgue) Cheadle.  He grew up in Mt. Clemens, Mich.
     In 1949, Mr. Cheadle enlisted in the Army, and was a career serviceman 
until his retirement in April 1969.
     He was a member of the American Legion, and enjoyed reading, model boat-
building and woodworking.
     He is survived by his wife, Arlene Reiko Cheadle, The Dalles, whom he 
married Dec. 24, 1971 in Sparks, Nev.; his mother, Ruby Cheadle, The Dalles; 
his brothers and their wives, Tom and Helen Cheadle, Hillsboro; David and 
Sharon Cheadle, Santa Barbara, Calif.; his sister and her husband, Shirly and 
Duane Mattson, The Dalles; a sister-in-law, Wynne Cheadle, The Dalles; and 
several nieces and nephews.
     He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard.
     Viewing visitation was at Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home on Feb. 
18, the Rev. Karl Vercouteren officiating.  Interment with military rites were 
at The Dalles IOOF Cemetery.
     Memorials:  American Lung Association, in care of Spencer, Libby & Powell 
Funeral Home, 1100 Kelly Ave., The Dalles.
