     Richard Eldon Catron, 60, a resident of Dufur, died at a local hospital 
on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2005.
     He was born Oct. 24, 1944, in Pendleton, one of four children to Wallace 
J. and June E. (Heater) Catron. He moved to White Salmon when he was in the 
sixth grade and attended White Salmon High School. 
     He started truck driving and was a long haul driver for 30 years. He 
attended Western Business School for a year. He lived in the Columbia Gorge 
area most of his life, except for two years in Missouri, and then settled in 
Dufur eight years ago.
     He enjoyed music, playing the guitar, collecting toy cars and fishing.
     He is survived by his wife of forty-one years, Judith E. (Hirst) Catron, 
whom he married in Walla Walla, Wash., in October 1964; his children and their 
spouses, Mark and Gina Catron, Stevenson; Wallace Catron, Moses Lake, Wash.; 
Brian and Renee Catron, The Dalles; and Michelle Catron, Dufur; 13 
grandchildren, three great grandchildren; his mother, June Catron, White 
Salmon; his sister, Rosalie and her husband, Gary Keys, Columbia Falls, Mont.; 
numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Wallace 
J., his brother, Wallace H. Catron and his sister, June “Carol” Catron.
     Memorial and potluck lunch will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 23, at 
Sorosis Park Shelter. Private cremation was held at The Dalles Win-quatt 
Crematory with Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
