The Dalles Chronicle, August 25,  2006
     Cleo Rosalie Carlson, 81, a lifelong resident of Kent, died Wednesday, 
Aug. 23, 2006 at home.

     She was born on Aug. 23, 1925, in Eugene, to C.P. and Irma Crystal 
(Sommer) Snyder. 

     She attended Kent Grade School, and graduated from Kent High School. 
Following high school, she attended college at Oregon State University. She 
was then employed at the US Bank in The Dalles, and Wray’s Drug Store. 
She married Ted Carlson of The Dalles on June 2, 1946, and continued ranching 
with her husband until her retirement.

     She enjoyed music, playing the piano, reading, embroidery, crafts, and 
following the children’s activities. 

     In her later years, she enjoyed traveling with her husband and following 
her grandchildren’s activities.

     She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Ted Carlson; sons Gary R. 
Carlson and Byron K Carlson, Kent; daughter Marnene E. Benson of Grass Valley; 
five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

     Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 26, at 2 p.m., at 
Spencer, Libby, and Powell Funeral Home, with the Reverend Debra Carlson 
officiating.

     Memorial contributions may be made to the Sherman County Senior Center.
