He was born March 8, 1928, in Ontario, the oldest of three children to Archie Walter and Eva LeVeta (Everett) Cantrall. He was raised in Grass Valley and graduated from Moro High School in the Class of 1946. He worked at his parent’s grocery store in Grass Valley, and was the owner/operator of the store from the mid-60’s until the late 70’s. He sold the store and he went to work for Albertsons in The Dalles until his retirement in the early 90’s. He was an active charter member of the Sherman County Lion’s Club since 1959, and was awarded the “Dedicated Humanitarian Award” in 1999. He enjoyed his family, travel and sports. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Jean Cook-Duncan, Grass Valley, whom he married Sept. 18, 1949 in Grass Valley; three sons, Richard Allen Cantrall, Portland; DeWayne and his wife, Lianne Cantrall, Eugene; Robert Daniel and his wife, Deborah Lynn Cantrall, Seattle; three grandchildren, Jeff Kent Cantrall, Eugene; Jodi Dawn Guliuzza, Moscow, Idaho; Michael Everett Cantrall, Seattle; his brother, Gene and his wife, Camielle Cantrall, Portland and his sister, Sharon and her husband, Jim Rhodda, Salem. Funeral services will be held at the Grass Valley Baptist Church on Thursday, Oct. 30, at 1 p.m. with Asa Jenson officiating. Public interment will follow at the Grass Valley Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Sherman County Lion’s Club, Sight and Hearing Fund.
