The Dalles Weekly Reminder, August 9, 1984
Leon Robert Canfield, 78, died Wednesday, August 1.  He was a lifetime 
resident of Maupin.

Mr. Canfield was born in Maupin on Oct. 2, 1905.  He was a heavy equipment 
operator and mechanic.  He was a member of the Maupin Community Church, the 
Operating Engineers Local 701, and the Senior Citizens Potlatch program.

He is survived by his wife Opal, Maupin; a daughter, Celia Tidwell, Portland; 
four step-children, five step-grandchildren; two sisters:  Vera Dekay, 
Portland; and Mildred McDonald, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Memorial services were held at Maupin Community Church Saturday with the Rev. 
Steve Hopper officiating.

Memorials may be made to the Southern Wasco County Ambulance or to the Maupin 
Community Church.
