     Patricia Mae Bettis, 66, a resident of The Dalles, died at her daughter's 
home on Thursday, March 11, 2004.
     She was born Jan. 15, 1938, in Lewistown, Mont., the oldest of four 
daughters to Leonard Walter and Martha Ellen (Henneman) Ellis and grew up in 
the Libby, Mont., area.
     She married David L. Taphouse in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho in August 1957 and 
they lived in Michigan for a time then returned to Libby. They moved to The 
Dalles in October 1963.
     In the late 1970s, she married Walter Francois and he preceded her in 
death on April 1, 1984. 
     She married William Bettis on April 25, 1990.
     She was a homemaker, member of the American Legion, Moose and Eagles 
Auxiliaries and enjoyed crossword puzzles, the outdoors, camping, relaxing on 
her deck and feeding the birds.
     She is survived by her husband, William Bettis; her children and their 
spouses, Vicki Jean and Anthony Fricano, Sharon Orean Martinez, David Russell 
and Kellie Taphouse and Michael Carl and Nancy Taphouse, all of The Dalles; 
nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and her sister, Jean Poole and 
her husband, Blaine, The Dalles. 
     She was preceded in death by her sisters, Sharon and Joyce and her son-in-
law, Andy Martinez.
     Memorial services will be held at Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home 
at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 20, with Asa Jenson officiating. 
     A gathering of family and friends will follow at The Dalles American 
Legion Hall. 
     Private cremation was held at The Dalles Win-quatt Crematory.
     Remembrances may be made to Hospice of the Gorge, 751 Myrtle St., The 
Dalles, OR 97058.
