Besst, 94, a resident of Goldendale, died on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2004, in Yakima, Wash. He was born Dec. 18, 1909 in Decatur, Neb., to Walter and Josie Besst. He attended schools there and served in the Navy during World War II. Before retiring in 1970 he worked for the Klickitat PUD as a lineman in White Salmon and Goldendale. His hobbies included reading, crossword puzzles, rooting for his favorite football team, the Nebraska Cornhuskers, and tinkering with the tools in his workshop. Survivors include a daughter, Belinda and husband Dan Gaudette, Yakima; stepson Jerry and wife Barbara Sherman, Goldendale; grandson Sam and wife Jenny Wilkins, Glenwood; and stepdaughter Sharon and husband Lowell Campfield, Palm Desert, Calif.; sister Joan Saxton, Nebraska; cousin Lily White, South Dakota; and numerous other grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and adopted family. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 20 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Erdman Funeral Home in Goldendale with pastor Ken Akins officiating.
