The Dalles Weekly Reminder,  June 5, 1987
     Martha Finley Berg, 86, died last week in The Dalles.  She had lived in 
The Dalles since 1954.
     Mrs. Berg was born Sept. 5, 1900, near Carrington, N.D.  She was a school 
teacher and married John Finley in 1920.  They farmed in North Dakota until he 
died in 1935.  Three years later, she married Anton Berg, and they operated a 
restaurant before moving to The Dalles in 1954.  In The Dalles, she worked at 
lunch counters and baked pies.  She was a member of the Evangelical Church.
     Mrs. Berg is survived by a daughter, Mildred Sandvol; four grandchildren, 
Judy Rone, Barbara Stinson, David and Joyce Thompson; four great-
grandchildren; an adopted brother, Steve Fisher of Silverton, Ore.
     Memorials may be made to the Evangelical Church in The Dalles.  Spencer, 
Libby and Powell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
