Wakley iwakley@msn.com April 17, 2006, 12:09 am The Dalles Chronicle, December 25, 2005 Irlene Francis Bentley, 88, a resident of The Dalles, died at her home on Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2005. She was born Oct. 13, 1917 in North Crandon, Wis., the eldest of six children to Clyde Edward and Mae Elizabeth (Hawks) Wine. She was raised in North Crandon, where she attended school. She married Gerald Louis Bentley on June 22, 1935 in Crandon, Wis., they moved to Wapato, Wash., where they lived for several years, then returning to Crandon. In 1947 they moved to Tillamook, where they resided until 1979 when they retired to The Dalles. She was a longtime member of the Church of The Nazarene in Tillamook, and The Dalles. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and completed many crossword puzzle books in her retired years. She is survived by two brothers, Glen W. Wine of Yakima, Wash., LeRoy E. Wine of Glendale, Calif.; her sister, Iris M. Enloe of Salem; her three daughters, Joyce M. Murphy, Betty L. Bentley, and Shirley A. Hafner, all of The Dalles; her grandchildren, Debra Andersson of Raleigh, N.C.; Michael Murphy, Colorado; Shawn Wells, Florence; Bryan Bentley, Tillamook; Kelly Bentley, New Rochelle, N.Y.; Susan Michl, Tamara Feriante and Jeffrey Barrett, all of The Dalles; 17 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Gerald Louis Bentley, her brother, Warren C. Wine, her sister, Lorraine C. Weaver, her daughter, Sharon L. Bentley and a son, Jack W. Bentley. Private cremation was held at Win-Quatt Crematory in The Dalles, with Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home in care of arrangements. Memorial service will be held at a later date at Church of The Nazarene with Rev. Randy Johnson residing. Memorial funds may be made to the Celilo Center, 1800 E. 19th St., The Dalles, OR 97058.
