     Ronald LeRoy Benson, 67, died Nov. 15, 2005, in Hermiston of a heart 
attack.
     He was born in The Dalles, on Nov. 28, 1937 to Harry Benson and Alberta 
(Alley) Benson.
     He graduated from Moro High School in 1955 and attended Oregon State 
College (now OSU) for two years.
     In 1963, he married Iris J. Tallmon and adopted her children Pamela and 
Corey. 
     He was a tanker truck driver and asphalt distributor operator for many 
years. For the past 10 years, he owned Benson Surface Treatment, specializing 
in asphalt paving and dust oil application.
     He was very involved in Babe Ruth baseball in Portland and Redmond; was a 
member of the Teamsters and the Redmond Elks, was a 50-year blood and 
apheresis donor for the American Red Cross, and was involved with the 
International Harvester group in Portland. He recently celebrated his 50th 
reunion with his high school classmates in Moro.
     Survivors include his wife, Iris J. Benson, Portland; a daughter Pamela 
D. Benson, Wenatchee, Wash.; a son Corey M. Benson, Crooked River Ranch; a son 
Sean D. Benson, Portland; and grandchildren R.C. and Hannah Benson, 
Wilsonville.
     He was preceded in death by his mother and father.
     A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
     Memorials may be made to the Sherman County Historical Society or 
American Red Cross.
