     Shad Yul Bennick, 35, a resident of Hillsboro and former resident of The 
Dalles, died suddenly at his home on Wednesday, May 24, 2006.
     He was born in The Dalles on Aug. 11, 1970, the first of three children 
to Clyde Yul Bennick and JoAnn (Windsor) Calmer. He grew up in The Dalles, 
attended all Chenowith schools and graduated from Wahtonka High with honors in 
1988. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, April 29, 1992 as a communications 
systems operator until July 1, 1998.
     He married Karen Hankawa in 1995 and they divorced in 2001. He worked at 
RadiSys Systems and was systems administrator. He enjoyed kayaking, computers, 
music and sports.
     He is survived by his mother, JoAnn Calmer, and his stepfather, Donald 
Grant Calmer; his brother, Aaron Bennick and his wife Sally of Butte, Mont.; 
his sister, Lisa Bennick of Beaumont, Tex.; his nieces, Crystal and Mercedes 
Bennick; his nephew, Jacob Bennick; numerous, aunts, uncles, cousins and many 
friends.
     He was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Yul Bennick.
     A memorial service will be on Monday, June 6, 2006 at 1 p.m. at Spencer, 
Libby and Powell Funeral Home. A reception will follow at the Moose Lodge
