    Erma E. (Tegarden) Benedict, 87, a resident of Vancouver, Wash., died on 
Dec. 6, 2003.
     She was born Sept. 13, 1916 in Dufur.
     She married Lewis Ivan Benedict in 1941. They were married for 55 years 
before his death in 1996.
     She had lived in the Vancouver area for 53 years. She was active in 
church, an ex-POW group and enjoyed reading, crocheting and knitting.
     Survivors include a daughter, Marcia Benedict-Grassmueck; two sons, Lewis 
I. Benedict II and Dennis G. Benedict; and one grandchild.
     A funeral service was held Dec. 13 at MacArthur Blvd. Christian Church in 
Vancouver. 
     Memorials may be made to MacArthur Blvd. Christian Church, 7300 MacArthur 
Blvd., Vancouver, WA 98664. Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel was in care of 
arrangements.
