Beaver, 69, a resident of Tygh Valley for 27 years, died at Mid- Columbia Medical Center Aug. 14. He was born March 14, 1915 in Great Barrington, Mass. Mr. Beaver had worked for Mountain Fir Lumber Co. for 18-1/2 years as a chipper. Before that he had worked in heavy construction. He retired four years ago. He was a veteran for World War II, and served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge in The Dalles and American Legion Post No. 73 in Maupin. Survivors include his wife, Edna Mae, Tygh Valley; a son, Gerald R. Alderman, Salem; a daughter, Velynn Saint, Tygh Valley; 13 grandchildren, 12 great- grandchildren; a sister, Carrie Caul, Great Barrington; a niece, Carolyn Tyler, Canton, Conn., and a nephew, George Caul, Shiffield, Mass. Memorial services were Friday at the American Legion Hall in Maupin, with the Rev. Dan Elam and members of the Legion Post officiating. Private burial services followed at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland. Smith Callaway Chapel was in charge of services. Memorials may be made to the Tygh Valley Fire Department.
