The Dalles Chronicle, May 4, 2005
     Marilyn Louise Bales, 55, a resident of The Dalles and a resident of 
Salem since 1994, died on May 1, 2005.
     She was born June 17, 1949, twin daughter of Raymond and Ethel Sampson in 
Ray, Colo.
     At an early age she moved to The Dalles with her family and lived there 
until moving to Salem.
     In Salem she worked as a dental assistant. She enjoyed sewing and gave 
her craft works to family, friends, foster care homes, children’s hospitals 
and various organizations.
     Survivors include her daughter, Michelle Bales, Tacoma, Wash.; her 
mother, Ethel Sampson, Salem; twin sister, Carolyn Ellis, Salem; two brothers, 
Dennis Sampson, LaPine and Jerry Sampson, Portland.
     Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, May 7, at Virgil T. 
Golden Funeral Service in Salem.
     Memorial contributions may be made to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, 
14 Pennsylvania Plaza, Suite 1400, New York, NY, 10122.
