The Dalles Weekly Reminder, September 27, 1984
     Valerie Sue Baker, 20, died Friday in a one-car accident near Nampa, 
Idaho.  She lived in The Dalles and formerly in Walla Walla, Wash.  She was 
born in Stayton, Oregon.  Services were held in Walla Walla.
     Survivors include her parents, Grover and Lottie Spangler Baker of Walla 
Walla, a sister, Barbara Morris, Boise; three brothers, James and Fred Phipps, 
The Dalles, Skip Baker, Walla Walla; her grandmother, Elise Branson, Denver; 
seven aunts:  Mara Schraf, Lois Connelly, Denver; Daisy Wood and Beulah 
Wilshire, Oklahoma City; Ruby Jones, Roosevelt, Okla., Barbara Hillyard, 
Lawton, Okla.; Dessie Potter, Washington, D. C.; nieces and nephews.
     She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Walla Walla.
     Memorials have been suggested to the Lily Rice Center, a school for the 
handicapped, Herring Funeral Home, Walla Walla.
