The Dalles Weekly Reminder, Feb 5, 1982
     David Robert Baird, 79, a resident of The Dalles since 1969, died Jan. 25.
     He was born April 1, 1902 in Oberlin, Kan.
     Mr. Baird moved to The Dalles in 1923 and operated an electrical company 
from 1934 until 1941 when he moved to Portland to work in the shipyards during 
World War II.  He operated a hay ranch in Gilliam County from 1945 until 1969.
     He married Effie Dexter in 1928.
     Mr. Baird was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, the IOOF, the Rebekah 
Lodge and the Mikkalo Grange.
     Survivors include his wife, Effie, The Dalles; two sisters, Mrs. Herbert 
(Dorothy) Bolton, The Dalles;, and Mary Baird, Portland; three nephews, Jack 
Lewis, Prineville, Baird Atwood, in Nevada, and Bob Bolton, Tualatin; and two 
nieces, Dorothy Saxton, Bend, and Louise Ferren, Mojave, Calif.
     Funeral services were Jan. 28 at Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home 
with Pastor Delmer Anderson officiating.  Entombment followed at The Dalles 
IOOF Mausoleum.
     Casketbearers were Jack Lewis, Frank Saxton, Floyd Anderson, Jack Wood, 
Jim Foster and Wayne Foster.
     Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Fund.
