Surnames: Bains, Fields, Dingle Thrya Fields Bains, 90, a resident of Portland, died on Sunday, March 16, 2003. She was born July 17, 1912 in Wasco (Oregon), the daughter of Tracy Lyman Fields and Nellie Dingle Fields who farmed all their lives in Sherman County until their retirement in 1950. She married Basil Justin Bains of Clofax, Washington, on May 3, 1936 at the home of her parents. The couple lived in Colfax, then moved to Wenatchee (Washington) for several years. They moved to Portland in May, 1948. She worked for the Interstate Commerce Commission for 25 years, retiring in 1977. She was a charter member of Chapter 1535 of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. She was a member of Kern Park Christian Church in Portland, and the Christian Business and Professional Woman's Association. She is survived by two nephews, Virgil Fields of Shoshone, Idaho and John Fields of Wasco; her sister-in-law Mrs. Leonard Fields; several great nephews and nieces and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, on October 14, 1971, and her brother, Thomas Leonard Fields on January 15, 1981. Graveside Services will be held Saturday, March 22 at 1 p.m. at the IOOF cemetery in The Dalles. Memorial remembrances may be made to the Sherman County Historical Society, Moro (P.O. Box 173, Moro, OR 97039) or to Holladay Park Plaza Endowment Fund, Portland.
