She was born in The Dalles on March 13, 1923, the second of four children to Elza Guy and Florence Helen (Howell) Oades. She was raised in the Pleasant Ridge area of The Dalles. She attended Pleasant Ridge Country grade school for first through eighth grades, graduating from The Dalles High School in 1941. She married James Eble Anthony on July 5, 1941 in The Dalles. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a bookkeeper for her husband Jim’s business, Anthony Tractor Repair, ran a daycare and was a Red Cross Volunteer. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Wasco County Pioneers, Ladies Auxiliary, Fraternal Order of Eagles and Red Cross, volunteering at Columbia Basin Nursing Home for the Red Cross. She had a natural love towards all animals throughout her life, which began on the ranch where she trained horses to be saddle horses. She was an avid gardener, tending to the garden for hours on end. She is survived by her five children, Anita and her husband Gayle Ordway of Tualatin, James Anthony of Portland, Marilyn Van Patten of Holly Hill, S.C., Linda and her husband Wayne Lyon of Warwich, N.Y. and Sandra and her husband Gary Mansell of Realto, Calif.; eleven grandchildren, G. Anthony Ordway, Heather Ordway and her husband Mike, James and his wife Maria Ordway, Thomas and his wife Tiffany Van Patten, Robert and his wife Nicole Van Patten, Michelle Van Patten Crowley and her husband Ron, Elizabeth, Gary and Victoria Lyon, Marie Mansell Nagle and her husband Adam and Krystal Mansell; and eleven great grandchildren, Dominic, Hayden and Isabella Allen, Sebastian, Christian and Miguel Ordway, Caitlin Van Patten, Madison Van Patten, Austin and Chet Crowley and Patrick Lyon Brady; 4 sisters-in-law, Dorothy Bottolfson, Ardie and her husband Richard McKay, Pauline Anthony and Hubert Anthony and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, James Anthony and her brothers Francis, Delbert and Richard. Viewing visitation will be held at Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home on Monday, Sept. 5, 2005 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. with Recitation of the Rosary following at 7pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2005 at 1 p.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church with Rev. Todd Unger officiating.
